Pick up at 8:30am Hit the water at 9:00am.
Head straight out to the Vailima Breweries for about 15 minutes by boat. ( a 10m long diveboat)
Vailima Breweries was devastated during the 1990 and 1991 cyclones but 10 years later the coral regrowth has been prolific and it is an interesting journey to see the re-establishment of these resilient creatures. Some, attribute its fast recovery to the close proximity of the Vailima Breweries, what ever the course it is teeming a large variety of coral and fish. The top of the Breweries drops off to a wall with a sandy bottom where eagle rays are often sighted and large schools of yellow spot emperors and other creatures like turtles circle close by.
We will have lunch before beginning or second dive.
The Wreck
In 1889 ships from G.Britain German and the United States were destroyed by the 1889 Hurricanes and not one ship managed to get away. Unfortunately not one survived and most of the wreck is buried in the harbour area and a few remainders are still visible. Some artifacts have been resurrected in yr 1999, 2000 and last year 2001 of German buttons, potholes, a necklace and a ring.
