Two Day Summer Snowy Mountain Tour

Tour departs Canberra on Mondays and Wednesdays November through to April excluding 24th December to 4th January. Passengers are requested to wait outside Hotel/Motel/YHA five minutes prior to pick up time. Itinerary
DAY 1
0730 Pick up from your Motel or 0800 from Jolimont Centre. We depart Canberra and head out to the Monaro Highway heading for Cooma and the start of the Snowy Mountains tour.
COOMA
Visit the Hydro information centre and points of interest in Cooma and enjoy a cuppa before starting our tour into the mountains which rapidly climb and descend to some of Australia''s highest points.
ADAMINABY
We are greeted at Adaminaby by a large Trout. Adaminaby was relocated to make way for Lake Eucumbene, the old township being inundated with water as the lake filled.
PROVIDENCE PORTAL
We take time to view the open portal where water from Tantangara Reservoir spills into Lake Eucumbene via the three metre 16.5 Km. tunnel.
KIANDRA
We pass through the old mining town of Kiandra Gold was discovered here in 1859. Here at Kiandra is claimed to be the birthplace of organised skiing in Australia. It was also the highest permanent settlement in NSW prior to Cabramurra being built by the Snowy Mountains Authority.
CABRAMURRA
We head for the highest town in Australia, Cabramurra at 1488m above sea level.
KHANCOBAN
Stop here for the evening and in the morning, a chance to visit the National Parks and Wildlife Office to collect some information on the Alpine Way on which we will be travelling.
DAY 2
ALPINE WAY
We depart Khancoban with a stop off at Murray No. 1 Power Station on the Alpine Way, and climb to 1500 metres at Dead Horse Gap. Breath taking views and the chance to see the change in flora at different altitudes.
THREDBO
Time in Thredbo for you to lunch, have a wander or take the chair lift to the summit.
JINDABYNE
Our last Snowy town before we return through Cooma to Canberra. Jindabyne has a similar history to Adaminaby, the original township being drowned when the Snowy River was dammed.
CANBERRA
We return to Canberra completing the circle.
