**ANZAC Day 2004 15-Day itinerary “The Brigadier”**
**Day 1 Tuesday 13th April Arrival Day Ist** Today is an arrival day so “Welcome to Turkey!” You will be met at the airport and transferred to your Hotel where you will meet with your guide and the rest of your group. We may wish to go out for a meal and a few drinks this evening.
**Day 2 Wednesday 14th April Istanbul (B) Ist** After breakfast we partake in a guided tour of the only city to span two continents. We visit the Blue Mosque, St. Sophia Museum, Underground Cistern, Hippodrome. This evening we rest for the big day ahead.
**Day 3 Thursday 15th April Istanbul to Cappadocia (B + D) Cap** After breakfast, we buckle up and head for the nation’s capital in Ankara. We visit the award winning Ancient Civilisations museum and the mausoleum of Turkey’s first President Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. This afternoon we continue for the surreal land of Cappadocia where we will spend the night.
**Day 4 Friday 16th April Cappadocia (B + L) Cap** Today we visit the Goreme and Zelve open-air museums, Pasabag, Uchisar castle (Cappadocia’s highest point). We will have several photo opportunities; so don’t forget your cameras! This evening we have the option of partaking in a traditional Turkish folklore evening featuring folk and belly dancers … a night not to be missed!
**Day 5 Saturday 17th April Cappadocia (B + L + D) Cap** After breakfast we visit the beautiful Ilhara Valley and Derinkuyu underground city.
**Day 6 Sunday 18th April Cappadocia to Antalya (B) Ant** Today we depart Cappadocia and head south for the Mediterranean Coast. En-route we visit the Mevlana Dervish Museum in the religious capital of Turkey, Konya, home of the whirling dervishes.
**Day 7 Monday 19th April Antalya to Fethiye (B + L) Fet** We continue along the Mediterranean coast, stopping at the recently discovered Saklikent Gorge. Here we have the opportunity to go tubing down the river before heading to our overnight stop at Fethiye.
**Day 8 Tuesday 20th April Fethiye (B + L) Fet** Today we take a leisurely cruise around Fethiye Bay on a Gulet, a restored sponge diving yacht.
**Day 9 Wednesday 21st April Fethiye to Kusadasi (B + D) Kus** We visit Pamukkale and the ruins of Hierapolis, an ancient health spa, just above the calcium terraces, on the way west to the Aegean coastal town of Kusadasi. This evening we rest in Kusadasi.
**Day 10 Thursday 22nd April Kusadasi (B + D) Kus** We will stand in awe at the technology once used in times gone by as we take a guided tour of the ancient ruins of Ephesus. We will also visit the House of the Virgin Mary and Cave of the Seven Sleepers. We will also visit the House of the Virgin Mary and Cave of the Seven Sleepers.
**Day 11 Friday 23rd April Kusadasi to Gallipoli (B + D) Gal** Today we head north, toward the Gallipoli battlefields, and enjoy guided Tours of Troy of ‘Trojan Horse’ fame and Pergamum, capital of the ancient Pergamum Kingdom
**Day 12 Saturday 24th April Gallipoli (B + L + D) Gal** Today we partake in a fully guided tour of this now serene site. We will visit Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair Memorials, Anzac Cove, the Nek, Johnston’s Jolly and the Anzac Museum. This evening [Concert]
**Day 13 Sunday 25th April ANZAC Day at Gallipoli (BB + LB + D) Ist** We wake in the early hours and make the drive to the Anzac Commemorative site, home to the annual Dawn Service. We become aware of the almost deafening silence as we commemorate our fallen forefathers on this special day. We will also attend the Australian &/or New Zealand Memorial services. After the services we drive back to Istanbul with some very strong memories of Anzac Day at Gallipoli printed firmly in our minds. We stop half way at Tekirdag for dinner.
**Day 14 Monday 26th April Istanbul (B) Ist** This morning after breakfast we visit Topkapi Palace. Formerly home to the Ottoman sultans now a public museum.
**Day 15 Tuesday 27th April Tour Finishes (B)** After breakfast, we take a cruise on the Bosphorous passing by ancient forts and palaces as well as taking in the exotic atmosphere that Istanbul offers from the water. After our Bosphorous Tour we bid farewell to our new found friends as our tour concludes.
