**Day 1 Xai Xai Mozambique**
We make our way from Johannesburg via Nelspruit to the Mozambique border. After completing border formalities we head for the coast. Mozambique is still a relatively unexplored land for travellers. It is now a country at peace and the people are hard at work rebuilding their country. This is a very unique time to visit a country in its rebuilding phase. It is renowned for its pristine beaches and unspoilt coastline. There are many opportinities to meet the friendly locals. Today we follow the coast northwards to Xai Xai where we spend our first night. (D)
**Day 2 Vilanculos Mozambique**
Departing from this small seaside town in the morning we make our way north to the small fishing village of Vilanculos. The presence of many indigenous trees, including hundreds of mighty baobabs, conveys an aura of timeless Africa as we draw closer to the town. We explore the markets, and the beautiful beaches. We also prepare for our sailing trip. (B,D)
**Day 3 Bazaruto Islands Mozambique**
Early morning we board our traditional Arab Dhow, which takes us out to the spectacular Bazaruto Archipelago, a remote set of islands about 25km off the coast from Vilanculos. Well known for its stunning beaches and diverse marine life, it is a highlight of every trip. We stay on Benguerra Island and use the dhow to explore the sea. Slow down your pace of life, do nothing, leave only your footprints! (B,L,D)
**Day 4 Bazaruto Islands (Mozambique)**
Today is spent at your leisure, or sailing around the islands. We take our own snorkelling gear, so we can stop often at any of the reefs and also visit the sand dunes for some walks. There are also plenty of fishing opportunities. The night is spent back on Banguerra Island. (B,L,D)
**Day 5 Vilanculos (Mozambique)**
After these relaxing days out on the islands we make our way back to the mainland and spend the evening back in Vilanculos. Enjoy a walk along the beach at sunset. (B,L,D)
**Days 6,7,8 Inhambane/ Tofo Mozambique**
We head south to the historic town of Inhambane and set up camp on the popular beach of Tofo. With its tranquil bay and wide, white beach, Tofo offers you the opportunity to scuba dive, snorkel, fish, surf and sunbathe. You can also take a walk over the mountains or just relax on Tofo beach. This is a popular holiday spot and there is plenty to keep you busy. One day may also choose to catch a dhow or local bus to bustling Inhambane, one of the earliest European settlements in Southern Africa. One evening we''ll have a fish braai with fish bought straight from the fishermen on the beach - an unforgettable experience. (B,L)
**Day 9 Maputo Mozambique**
Leaving the peace and tranquility of the beach behind, we journey on to the bustling city of Maputo where we spend our last night. Here you get the chance to sample the capital’s fantastic nightlife. (B)
**Day 10 Johannesburg South Africa**
Rising early we depart from Maputo back to South Africa. We travel through Mpumalanga to Johannesburg arriving late afternoon. (B)
