Kutna Hora was once famous for its silver mines. In 1300 King Wenceslas II. founded the mint called the Italian Court, as the first mint workers came from Florence in Italy, and started the minting of silver coin called the ''Prague Groschen''. Around 1400 King Wenceslas IV. built a royal palace directly in the mint and during the 15th century the town became the seat of Czech Kings, from which the royal audience hall on the first floor has been preserved. The wealth of the city allowed to built the Gothic Cathedral of St.Barbara, a five-naved cathedtral, as an example of architectonic mastership of the times. Famous Ossuary offers a unique view of an interior set up from the bones of the people buried in the former city cemetery. Other sights: former fortress Hradek, Early-Gothic church of St.James, High-Gothic Stone Fountain, Stone House, Gothic Church of Virgin Mary atc.
