The Kea Pass allows you to explore the South and the North Islands including Kaiteriteri and Abel Tasman National Park. It begins in Christchurch and ends in Auckland and as such is valid only for travel in that one direction. This pass is designed for those who may be flying into Christchurch on an international flight and flying out of Auckland.
The towns you see in the boxes featured on the destination maps are Stopover Towns. A trip from Auckland to Wellington may take only 10 hours on an express bus, but it takes 5 days on KiwiExperience because we wind our way around the country checking out all the good stuff and only travelling during the day.
The Stopover towns for Kea are
Nelson, Westport, Mahinapua, Franz Josef, Wanaka, Queenstown, Christchurch, Kaikoura, Wellington, Taupo, Rotorua, and Auckland.
Your Kea Pass is valid for 12 months allowing you unlimited stopovers along the way. You must start your trip in Christchurch and finish your trip in Auckland. To do this trip all in one go will take a minimum of 16 days (winter) or 13 days (summer). If you choose to travel upon a minimum day timetable, it is advisable to book your departure date at least 48 hours before you start your journey. At this stage please specify that you would like to be booked through upon a minimum time schedule and our reservations team will ensure your journey is scheduled appropriately.
