Bellevue, The Penang Hill Hotel, is uniquely situated 800 metres above sea level on Bukit Bendera, enjoying a spectacular panoramic view. The Hotel was once a historic residence dating back to the early days of the East India Company, when Penang was known as Prince of Wales Island. All the attractions of early Penang can be seen or identified from this unique and magnificent vantage point.
The Hotel is easily accessible on foot, or by the regular funicular railway service. It also provides transportation to and from the Botanic Gardens. The Hill Railway Station is nearby, close to the airport and train station.
The Hotel offers relaxed hospitality and privacy, personalised attention and service, comfortable rooms, full dining and bar facilities, a speciality boutique and gift shop and spectacular panoramic views of Georgetown, its environs and of the Penang Bridge.
Penang's famed beaches and other seaside attractions and all the major historical and cultural attractions are only a 30-40 minute drive from the station. Personalised day tours, and transport to and from the airport can be prearranged. The Hill Railway provides a regular service every 30 minutes from 6.30 a.m. to 9.15 p.m. (Saturdays until 11.15 p.m.). From the top station, the Hotel is a 5 minute walk. A further tourist attraction at Bellevue is the Aviary Garden open daily from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
