Hostal Doņa Esther is a colonial style small Hostel in the centre of Otavalo. We pride ourselves on our personal and friendly atmosphere, good rooms with private bath and hot water 24hrs a day.
Our well known Restaurant Il de Roma offers international, national and vegetarian food of high quality in a cosy ambience. Our specialties are pizzas made in a wood-burning oven.
For almost a hundred years people arrived at this spot in Otavalo to have a nights rest and something good to eat (the former Hotel started functioning around 1910).
Although rebuilt in 1996/97, it has maintained its colonial style. Inside there is a patio where you still find the basin out of which the horses drank their water and the benches on which the travellers took their first rest, arriving at the valley of Otavalo (called the Valley of the Awakening).
