**Day 1** New Delhi to Chandigarh by Shatawdi and further transfer to Shimla with a visit to Pinjore Garden. Evening exploration of mall road and scandal point area of Shimla, overnight at hotel. **Day 2** Shimla to Dharamsala, the 280 Kms distance is a mixture of different landscapes, altitudes and cultures. On the way visit of Jwalamukhi temple, 60 Kms short of Dharamsala. The temple is one of the biggest shrines of Hindu religion, the sacred flames coming out from the various corners of temple carries a great story of sacrifice of goddess Sati, whose tongue fell here- a mythological story your guide will tell you! Entry into Kangra valley under the glorious facing Dhauladhar is entering into a well-carried custom and tradition of mountain Hindu culture from the ancient period that can not be seen anywhere else in the Himachal. The valley is very rich in cuisine, tea gardens, sheep, temples and heritage sites. Overnight at Hotel in upper Dharamsala- Mcleodganj. Surya resort for category A and Him queen for category B. **Day 3** Full day in Dharamsala. This is the Tibetan Kingdom in exile with the residence of HH The Dalai Lama. Mcleodganj is a beautiful Tibetan town at the top of Dharamsala, blessed equally by nature and religion. The residence of HH Dalai Lama, Namgyal monastery, Tibetan Parliament, Tibetan library, Tibetan medical centre, Tibetan handicraft centre, Tibetan children village, Church of St. Elgin in wilderness and a market of Tibetan goods will be visited with your guide. Overnight at hotel. **Day 4** Dharamsala to Manali a drive of 260 Kms is amazingly wonderful moving from Buddhist centre to Gaddi (shepherd''s) areas to tea gardens to city of temples - Kashi of Himalayas and to valley of Gods- Kullu. Driving under the shining mountains through the tea gardens of Palampur takes to Baijnath for a short visit of ancient temple of Lord Shiva, an architectural masterpiece of Pagoda family. Another temple on the itinerary is Triloknath temple of Mandi and further driving on the banks of River Beas we reach Kullu, 42 Kms less to Manali, the beautiful hill station and gateway to Ladakh and Spiti. Overnight at hotel. Category A- holiday Inn and B- Banon resort. **Day 5** Full day in Manali to visit Monasteries in town and Nagger castle. You may want to go to Reorick art gallery. Evening for independent activities in Manali **Day 6** Manali to Keylong. 110 Kms. Begins the spectacular drive to Leh crossing the Rohtang Pass (4025 Mts.) to enter the Lahoul Valley and driving further the beautiful settlements of Keylong. Lahoul, the open valley of very hard working tribe that claim for the highest per capita income and maximum top administrative posts, is a real mixture of Hindu and Buddhist culture and religion under similar roofs. Free flowing Chandra and Bhaga rivers from Lahoul assure the prosperity of Pakistan where it finally reaches. Different costumes, innocent faces, lamas and monasteries of Lahoul and a wonderful landscape is worth visiting. Keylong is the headquarter for the district, a quaint village once one of the important stops on the erstwhile trade route between India and China/Tibet. Overnight at hotel. Category A- Dekid and Tashi Delek. Category B- others. **Day 7** Keylong to Sarchu. 115 Kms road moves flat till Jespa and Darcha, 05 Kms distance between both, from Darcha the road again begins a steady climb to the Baralacha Pass (4800 Mt). A steep climb to a spur on the hillside brings you face to face with picturesquely situated Darcha- Sumdo village, across the Bhaga river. At the top of Baralacha La, there are lakelets and ponds, where migratory Siberian birds alight on way to and from sanctuaries in India. The landscape changes dramatically from green mountain slopes to bare mountainsides, beige and brown, oxidised granite and streaks of lime and slate. On this day you could get the glimpse of the magnificent Mulkila range of mountains on the right and climbing up from Darcha and Patseo one begins to slowly see the green slopes giving way to Stark Tibetan Landscape. This is region bordering the Rupshu region of Tibet and the nomadic people and their sheep. Overnight at Camp Sarchu Heights at the altitude of 3900 Mts. **Day 8** Sarchu to Leh (240 Kms) Early morning drive to Leh gives you a feeling of being in the high Tibetan Plateau. One climbs a series of Galta loops consisting of 32 hairpin bends on the way up from Sarchu and come out in Pang valley. It is here that one can divert to the right and visit the huge high altitude lakes of Tsokar and Tsemoriri. This region also has rare wild life like the Tibetan wild Ass, wolf, and The elusive Snow Leopard, the black-necked Crane and Tibetan Snow Cock. Cross to the other side of the Pang, Tzanspo River to continue drive up to yet another plateau for a long traverse on the legendary Moore plains. The highest of the Tibetan Plateau at 4200 Mts. Continue driving Tangling La (5280 Mts.) the second highest motorable pass in the world that commands breath taking views of the Zanskar range. A pleasant drive about 20 Kms brings you to the Ladakhi hamlet, Gya, heralded by prayer flags. After crossing few more villages one reaches the great Indus River. Further drive to Leh town, overnight at hotel. Category A- Umasila and B- Spik and Span. **Day 9.& Day 10** Leh : Leh is the fascinating capital of the Autonomous Hill Council of Ladakh, also known as Little Tibet. The important monasteries to visit in and around Leh are Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Spituk, Samkhar as well as the Shanti Stupa, Stok Palace and main Bazaar. The Leh palace dominating the town was the former home of the Namgyal Dynasty. The monastic festivals are very popular and Hemis, Phyang and Lamayaro festivals in summer are visited by lot of tourists who throng to see the Cham Dances. Ladakh is also well known for trekking, hiking, expeditions, rafting and kayaking. If you follow the Indus downstream, the monasteries to see are Likir, Alchi, Phyang and Ridzong. Lamayaro with its spectacular moonscape is the furthest monastery on your route. The overnight stay in a very picturesque village called Saspol near Alchi facilitates a visit to these monasteries. Even a visit to the oracle in Sabu village near Leh could be a possibility.
