Himalayan Festival Tour In Rara & Simikot Area:

Through the ageless mountain corridors, the Hindu Chettries, Thakuris, and Buddhist Bhotias of Humla continue to listen to the vanishing rhythms of an ancient heritage, despite their dwindling means of survival. Cultivatable land grows scarcer as the population increases, the ancient salt and wool trade has lost much of its economic significance, and encroaching modern culture threatens to replace traditional beliefs. Throughout the last eight centuries, in overlapping migrations from the north, the Bhotias - Tibetan -speaking people of Tibetan origin have trickled south from the Asiatic steppes, setting Humla¡¦s highlands above ten thousand feet. While the Hindus, originally from the Indian plains, prefer valleys and riverbeds, the mountains are home to the Buddhists.
