The Hostel is in the quiet little town of Fellabćr, only 3km north of Egilsstaoir, the largest town in the eastern part of Iceland. The Hostel is located on a hill where you have a view over Lagarfljot River and surroundings.
We offer accommodation in which everybody can find something to fit their needs. We have 44 beds in total. On the lower level of the school we have class rooms that have been divided into sections for 2 or 4 persons using wooden panels. On the upper level we have family or group rooms for 4-6 persons. These facilities are generally for people with sleeping bags but, if requested, linen is provided at a higher price.
In a more quiet part of the school we have three rooms for two people with private bath rooms. These rooms are a bit more expensive but generally include linen and suit people who want more privacy.
We offer breakfast for those who want. However, we also have a nice, big, well equipped kitchen in which you seldom have to wait. We have shared, hot showers and a living room with a television.
Fellabćr is a nice little town on the bank of Lagarfljót which is the second largest river on Eastern Iceland. Before, people used to fear a monster believed to live in the lake. It was called Lagarfljótsormurinn or the worm of the river. These days, people admire the beautiful view from the river to valleys and mountains.
Distances to all main services and entertainment from the Hostel in the school of Fellaskóli are not far. Recently the restaurant and pub Svarthvíta hetjan (Black & White Hero) was opened. You can also grab a bite from the bakery or from Olís the gas station and you could also get a book from the bookstore in Hlađir to enjoy over a meal or in the evenings.
Fellaskóli Hostel is only run during the summer. In the winter it is a primary school for local children.
