DAYS 1- 3
We start with a free day in Cairo giving you a chance to look around the markets and Museum. The driver/leader should contact you on the first day or night in the Hotel and arrange the departure time for the next day (day 2). We travel by bus to the Sinai Desert to join the expedition vehicle on the beach in Dahab. Here you can swim, snorkel or scuba dive to coral reefs only yards from the shore.
DAYS 4 - 6
St. Catherines is the oldest monastery in the world, above which rises Mount SInai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments. We catch the ferry across the Suez Canal and follow the Red Sea to the Nile.
DAYS 7 - 8
With the desert sands rolling in to the river, Aswan is one of the most beautiful towns in Egypt. You can cross the Nubian Desert to the monuments Abu Simbel built by Pharoah Rameses II.
DAYS 9 - 10
We sail by felucca on the to see the river''s ancient farming life while eating and sleeping on the boat.
DAYS 11 - 12
Luxor - This stretch of the Nile with its tombs, monolithic statues, and dozens of Pharaonic temples makes up one immense outdoor museum. Karnak is the largest temple complex in Egypt; it''s best seen lit up during the evening sound and light show. Across the Nile are the twin statues of the Colossi of Memnon guarding the road to the Valley of the Kings with Tutankhamen''s Tomb.
DAYS 13 - 15
We cross the Western Desert with its oases and hot springs, taking a 200 mile sweep into the Sahara. It only rains here every 25 years. We arrive in Cairo on the last day of the trip and visit the Pyramids and Sphinx.
