Amsterdam is always a great short break destination. Our special weekend Tours to Amsterdam are typically PP - big, organised parties. Choose from one of our three Bank holiday (long weekend) tours. Staying in the heart of the city we have organised the tour with stacks to do for those who want to stick together. Yet being so central it is ideal if you want to do your own thing.
**Day 1 Friday 22nd August 2003** On Our Way.. Evening departure from London, so you shouldn''t have to take any time off work. Check in 8.30pm at Paddington Station, Eastbourne Terrace - next to the large BR mainline station. 9.00pm depart for the Dover to Calais ferry crossing. We then drive directly to Amsterdam in our full executive coach, complete with video and toilet.
**Day 2 Saturday 23rd August 2003** Arrive Amsterdam.. We arrive in Amsterdam first thing in the morning so we can make the most of our weekend in this beautiful, great fun city. After a brief city coach tour we check into the The Hans Brinker Budget Hotel is located right in the centre of Amsterdam. It is wedged between two canals in the ''Spiegelkwartier'' (''Mirrorquarter''). This district is historically, and still is today, at the heart of local artistic life.
The city park and the big museums (Rijks Museum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk Museum) are on a 5 minute walk from the Hotel, and the neighbourhood is filled with galleries for both contemporary and antique arts. Down the street from the Hotel is one of the three main shopping streets of Amsterdam: the Leidsestraat. Old shops that have been there for ages, next to DKNY and MacDonalds. At the end of the Leidsestraat is the Leidseplein, with the City Theatre, cafe''s, restaurants, the casino and three cinema''s. The Leidseplein is also the home of the famous Bulldog Bar, Milky Way, Hard Rock Cafe and numerous ''coffee shops.
Also just a few minutes walk away are the main museums - the Rijksmuseum, Van Gough etc. From this square you can take public transport to anywhere in Amsterdam. The Hans Brinker has a restaurant and a bar and has recently opened our new night-club slash media-lab.
**Day 3 Sunday 24th August 2003** You''ll Just Love These Bikes! Today, after breakfast, you have the choice of either doing your own thing for the day or joining our biking excursion out to the countryside visiting a few pubs along the way - and we supply the bikes! We will have you back at the Hostel in plenty of time to enjoy your last night on the town.
**Day 4 Monday 25th August 2003** Back to London :-( We depart our accommodation in the morning for the drive to Calais for a mid afternoon sailing back to Dover. We should have you back at Paddington around 8.00pm.
