**Tour description**
This is a land of majestic mountain spires, crystal-clear lakes, glimmering ice-blue glaciers: a place with abundant wildlife, rushing rivers and unspoilt beauty. The land of the midnight sun. This is a great land ... this is Alaska.
Leaving Anchorage, follow the snow-capped Chugach Mountains north past the massive Mantanuska Glacier to the towering Wrangell Mountains. Explore this vast wilderness, before we cross the mighty Alaska Mountain Range. Follow along the Alaskan Pipeline to the frontier town of Fairbanks on the tundra''s edge, before journeying south to Denali NP. Travel the lone road in this awe-inspiring National Park on two scenic bus trips to endless hiking opportunities, sharing this pristine preserve with its ancient residents (moose, caribou, fox and of course the grizzly bear) in the shadow of Mount McKinley, known to the Athabascan Indians as Denali, The Great One. We stop in Anchorage to sample the sights and nightlife in this state''s largest city.

Follow the narrow reaches of Cook Inlets Turnagain Arm, marvel at the magical blue Portage Lake and its uniquely sculpted icebergs en route to the lush beauty of the Kenai Peninsula. From Seward, gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, discover this misty and mysterious region via land and sea. Stroll the base of Exit Glacier or hike to the vast high-country of the Harding Ice fields, and perhaps go boating along this sparkling coastline, keeping an eye open for killer whales, and witnessing the thunder as immense glaciers calve icebergs into the sea. Next, canoe the quiet waters of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge while Bald Eagles watch from the treetops and moose wade in the shallows. Then it’s on to Homer with endless vistas of the rugged, snow-clad summits that surround the sparkling waters of Kachemak Bay. Relax and enjoy the quiet streets and special qualities of this once isolated fishing village at the “End of the Road”. Beachcombing and hiking will certainly work up an appetite for some Halibut fresh from the local waters. With pockets full of postcards and memories, passing the old Russian settlements of Ninilchik and Kenai, return to Anchorage refreshed, renewed, and filled with the wonders of this great land.......Alaska.
