The Abbey Tourist Hostel is located right at the heart of Ennis' historic town centre, opposite Ennis Abbey which dates back to 1248 and overlooking the majestic River Fergus. The Hostel itself is situated in a beautiful rambling building which was built in 1740 originally the 'County Club' for the Lords and Gentry of the County. In the 1900's it was the Club House Hotel. Extensively renovated in 1989,it has 20 rooms and can comfortably accommodate up to 100 people.
It is one of the most luxurious Hostels in the country and is steeped in history and oldworld charm.
With the River Fergus flowing gracefully past the Hostel it is the perfect setting for the many traditional Irish music sessions hosted here.
Our friendly staff will always be happy to assist you with any information or advice you need to have a great holiday.
It is the perfect base from which to explore Co. Clare and meet fellow travellers. The Hostel is within easy reach of all the major sites and attractions including the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, the Aran Islands, the Burren and the Ailwee Caves.Closer to home you've got the Bunratty Folk park,Durty Nellies,Quin Abbey and Ennis' own bustling town centre which has a wide variety of shops, pubs and a restaurants and also boasts a variety of traditional Irish music seven nights a week.
Ennis is also a haven for sports enthusiasts with top quality golfing, horse riding,surfing,sea kayaking,dolphin watching,Burren walking Tours and fishing facilities all close at hand.
