Day 1: Departing Hobart at 7.00am we travel to Mount Field National Park where we hike to Russell Falls and join ''Tall Trees'' Walk where you will see the world''s tallest flowering plant - the Swamp Gum. Travel on to the picturesque Lake St Clair (the deepest lake in Australia) for lunch and either walk through the striking temperate rainforest or alternatively spend the afternoon in Strahan. O/night Lake St Clair Wilderness Lodge or Strahan. (LD)
Day 2: We journey on to Tullah, an historic gold mining town surrounded by lakes and mountains. In the morning we enjoy a breathtaking walk to Montezuma Falls, the highest waterfall in Tasmania. In the afternoon, you have a choice of activities including canoeing on Lake Rosebery (FREE), mountain biking (FREE) or horse ride through the surrounding hills (optional extra). O/night Tullah Lakeside Chalet. (BLD)
Day 3: We visit the World Heritage Cradle Mountain National Park where you can chose anything from 2 to 5 hour bush walk (depending on your fitness level and inclination!) exploring this spectacular area. We call in at Sheffield, the famous ''Town of Murals'', before heading to Devonport where we stay overnight (BL)
Day 4: Leaving Devonport early, we travel through Launceston to Cataract Gorge. Then we head to the East Coast, enjoying the stunning scenery from St Mary''s to Bicheno, where we call in at a wildlife park to meet Winston the wombat and get up close and personal with some Tassie Devils & other locals. After lunch, we may explore secluded beaches & swim in crystal clear waters or enjoy a tour of a Freycinet Winery with the chance to do some tasting. At night we can take a look at the fairy penguins that make the shores of Bicheno their home (optional tour available). O/night Bicheno (D)
Day 5: We spend most of the day experiencing the stunning Freycinet National Park. Enjoy the challenging climb to the top of Mount Amos for a fantastic view over the world-renowned Wineglass Bay. Continue on, for a refreshing swim at Wineglass beach before heading down to the Tasman Peninsula and Port Arthur. Tonight, you can experience the famous Port Arthur Ghost Tour (optional) and maybe meet some past convicts! O/night Port Arthur. (BLD)
Day 6: The final day is spent exploring the historic site of Port Arthur, which served as a penal colony from 1830 to 1877. Enjoy a fascinating guided tour of the site as well as a boat cruise around the harbour, viewing the ''Isle of the Dead'' where more than 1100 convicts and soldiers are buried. After lunch we visit Crescent beach then head back to Hobart via Tasman Arch and the Devil''s kitchen, arriving late evening. (BL)
What to Bring: Sturdy walking shoes (ankle high), warm clothing (even in summer) waterproof jacket, swimming gear, towel & toiletries, hat & sunscreen, insect repellent, camera & film, motion sickness tablets, water bottle, The tour price includes qualified guide, accommodation, meals as indicated, National Park entry fees, canoe and bike hire at Tullah, entry to Wildlife Park, entry to Port Arthur Historic Site, (including the ''Isle of the Dead'' cruise), and is based on dorm accommodation in a hostel.
