**DAY 1: Dublin to Cork City** We travel to Cork via the Rock of Dunamase, which has the remains of a 12th century castle on the summit. We then go onto the amazing Rock of Cashel which is a medieval site also dating back to the 12th century. Tonight we stay in Cork city where we have the opportunity to sample MurphyÂ’s or Beamish Stout, both of which are brewed locally.
**DAY 2: Cork City to Doolin** Today begins with a visit to Blarney Castle where you will climb the steps to the top of the castle to kiss the Blarney stone. After this we will visit Killarney National Park where we will take a short walk and visit the Torc Waterfall. We then jump back on the bus and head to Tarbert for our ferry ride across the River Shannon before a short drive to Doolin village. We will be spending this evening in Doolin enjoying some local Irish entertainment.
**DAY 3: Doolin to Westport ** This morning we take a short drive to the spectacular Cliffs of Moher which rise 700ft above the Atlantic Ocean making them the highest in Europe. We then visit the Burren, a large area of exposed limestone. We then head onto the capital of the West – Galway - where we explore the City of Tribes during our lunch break. From here we make our way into the wilderness of Connemara and follow the stone wall laneways around the rugged mountains. Next is a visit to Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjiord, before we make our way to Westport at the foot of Croagh Patrick.
**DAY 4: Westport to Derry** From Westport we leave Mayo en route to Sligo. We climb to the hillside tomb of Queen Maeve at the top of Knocknarea with its panoramic views of Sligo Bay and the Donegal Coastline. At the base of Benbulben we find the final resting place of W.B.Yeats, the founding member of the Abbey theatre in Dublin, and one of the main movers of the Gaelic literary revival at the end of the 19th Century. On our route into Derry we visit the fort of the O''Niells at Griannan an Ailleach with its commanding position overlooking Lough Foyle and Lough Swilly.
**DAY 5: Derry to Belfast** We start the day with a walking tour of the old town of Derry with a local guide. Passing Dunluce Castle, we arrive at the Giants Causeway a World Heritage Site with unusual volcanic rock formations. From here we head to Ballycastle, going via the Rope Bridge of Carrick-a-Rede. We then follow the Glens of Antrim where we may get a clear view of our Celtic neighbours in Scotland. TheyÂ’re only a stoneÂ’s or spearÂ’s throw across the Irish Sea. Tonight we will explore the nightlife of Belfast.
**DAY 6: Belfast to Dublin** This morning we take the famous ‘black taxi’ tour around the city where you get an insight into the recent history of this divided place with an opportunity to visit areas not normally on the tourist itinerary. We then depart Belfast and start making our way back to Dublin. We go back via Monasterboice where we will see some excellent examples of 10th century High Crosses and the Hill of Slane, where there are the remains of a famous monastery and a church built in the 16th century. It is then off to the Hill of Tara before returning to Dublin.
