Dive in the beautiful area of the Sea of Cortes, where you will expirience one of the best areas of the world for Scuba Diving.
Depart from the Marina Palmira around 8:30am in one of Funbajas ships & return to La Paz @ 4:00pm. This tour includes Boat, captain, guide, lunch & drinks (sodas, Bottled water & beer).There are many beautiful dive sites around La Paz:
*EL BAJO: with seamounts in 60 to 150 ft of water, El Bajo is an excellent spot for advanced divers. Due to the strong currents, the swimming is sometimes difficult, and divers hold onto rocks at the bottom in order to wait for the large animals; such as schools of hammerheads, whale sharks, manta rays, marlins and more. For those who like to explore underwater, this is absolutely the best dive site of the Sea of Cortez.
*ISLA LOS ISLOTES: known as the Sea Lion Colony, located north of Holy Spirit Island, about an hour and a half boat ride from La Paz. Friendly sea lions attract both divers and snorkelers year round. Besides the 200-300 sea lions, you will also see a large variety of fish. This site is a must-see for divers and snorkelers.
*EL BAJITO: next to the sea lion colony lies a beautiful dive site where the cracks on the sea floor are covered with soft coral. Small manta rays, eels, and big fish can be seen here.
*WHALE ISLAND: this small, whale-shaped island has caves, crevices, rocky reefs, and a coral forest at 10-60 ft. This area is protected from the wind and the current is mild, making this site a great option for your second dive. You will see fish exclusively found in the Sea of Cortez, such as the Cortez Angelfish.
*SALVATIERRA WRECK: a 250 foot ferry boat that sank in 1976, lies 45-60 feet deep in the San Lorenzo Channel at the southern end of Holy Spirit Island. Common residents of this area include snappers and reef fish.
*CERRALVO ISLAND: an hour and a half boat ride brings you to this site where you can enjoy wreck diving and wall diving at 45 to 150 ft depth. You can see a wide variety of fish on the rocky reefs and sea lions frolicking in the water along the shore.
*SAN FRANCISQUITO: like El Bajo, this point is very popular for advanced divers. Look for schools of tuna, big marlin or mackerel. Since this dive site is far from shore (a three to four hour long boat ride) it is recommended you combine this dive with either the camp, dive or live-aboard trips.
