WHALE WATCHING SEASON IN THE SOUTH West
Active Safaris can arrange pick up’s from Hostels or hotels. Alternatively, you can meet us at carpark 20 Perth Train ST (across from Traveller’s Club/Globe hostel).
Active Safaris are now providing a two-day Southwest Discovery Tour departing every Wednesday and Saturday beginning June 2003.
2-day Southwest Whale/Dolphin Watching Adventure Tour.
DAY 1 (L/D)
We begin with a drive South through historic Mandurah (one of the fasted growing towns in Australia) and Bunbury (second largest town in WA) enroute to Donnybrook (the fruit capital of the southwest) to purchase Fruit and vegetables. Next Stop Manjimup (gateway to the Karri forest) test your nerve, climb Diamond tree Fire lookout, the tallest wooden lookout in the world. We have a picnic lunch surrounded by the scents and sounds of the Karri forest. While your heart stops pounding we drive through Virgin Karri Forest to the Tree Top Walk, a tour of living natural beauty. Then we explore Walpole for local arts and crafts and maybe a bushwalk. We stop at a bottle shop for your convenience before arriving at our Hostel.
DAY 2 (B/L)
Early to rise, we head for the Augusta & Margaret River region, where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. Next whale watching! (Seasonal) Humpback whales coming from the feeding grounds of Antarctica migrate to Flinders Bay in Augusta to find a mate before their northward journey. The ''Whale Watcher'' - a brand new 50 seater catamaran run by Naturaliste Charters, allows the viewing of these awe-inspiring creatures of the deep in absolute luxury. They are thorough professionals, almost guaranteeing that you will always see whales in season. After your cameras have run out of film and we''ve said goodbye to the whales, we''ll have lunch and get back our ''land legs''. We will then check out Surfers Point Home of the WA Masters Surf Championships. Try the famous Wine, Cheese & Chocolate of Margaret River. Then we head back to Perth for an approximate 7:30pm arrival.
Attention: Tour will alter slightly to take advantage of the seasonal changes, Instead of the whale watching. In summer we do a cave tour and Dolphin cruise. please ask when booking. Thank you.
