We set off from Sydney and take a brief drive around the Olympic Park and stop at Stadium Australia, Homebush Bay, for photos.
Arriving at the in the little town of Glenbrook for a drink and quick snack we head on up into the mountains.
In the Kings Tableland area we learn about one of the most significant Aboriginal sites on the East Coast of Australia that dates back at least 22,000 years. We give you a balanced history of the region pre-white settlement and also over the last 200 years, since the discovery of Australia by Captain James Cook. We differ from other Tours because we try hard to bring the importance of the Aboriginal past to your attention.
On this day tour you can do up to three hours bush walking in three separate walks based in the Jamison and Grose Valleys. Both advanced and easier walks are available. If you don''t want to walk at all you can remain with the bus and stay at the scenic lookouts. Our major bushwalk is at Wentworth Falls that cascade over the edge of the spectacular Jamison Valley.
After viewing the Three Sisters in Katoomba we walk down the side of one of the canyons via the Furber Steps through a temperate rainforest and pass by Katoomba Falls. This brings us to the base of the Scenic Railway, which has the honour of being the world''s steepest incline railway. We ride this back to the top. (Cost - $5 AUD), On this walk you get a fantastic view of the Three Sisters and hear the fascinating Aboriginal fable of how the Three Sisters were formed.
Instead of the walk you also have the opportunity to ride at your own expense one of or all three attractions - the sceinic railway, the cable car or ride in the new gondola down to the valley floor.
Departing Katoomba we follow the Cliff Top drive with views out over the Megalong Valley and Narrow Neck. We travel to Blackheath and visit Govetts Leap with its awesome views down the Grose Valley, one of the world''s largest canyon complexes, second only to the Grand Canyon in the USA. From Govetts Leap we can also see the Australian mainland''s longest uninterrupted waterfall - the Bridal Veil Falls.
On a bad weather day we stop in at the National Parks Centre at Blackheath which has fascinating displays, wilderness information and souvenirs available.
