The Okavango is a 15000-km˛ spectacle of rivers, lagoons, channels and islands of enormous trees together with an abundance of exotic bird and animal life.
One third of this area consists of The Moremi Game Reserve, incorporating the permanent Delta, marginal flood plains and bordered to the east by the dry mopane tongue. This is big game country. Elephants, Buffalo, Kudu, Sable, Roan, Lion. Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dogs are just to name a few of the endless sightings in the Moremi. Evenings echo with the distant roars of lions and whooping hyenas.
The area is also renowned for its diversity in flora with mixed acacia woodland and riverine forests in a close proximity of each other with colours changing from green to yellow as the months change. This wonderland of fauna and flora not only attracts the wide range of mammals, but also and incredible variety of exotic birdlife, such as Wattled Cranes, Ibis, Egyptian Geese, Pygmy Geese, Snipes and the Hornbills, characterised with their banana shaped bills.
The sites:
